Personalised Engraved Leather Keyring — Gold, Silver or Natural

A first name, initials, a date: a few characters are all it takes to turn a beautiful leather keyring into a one-of-a-kind object. Hot-stamp engraving, carried out in Suki's Parisian workshop, marks the leather in depth — a clean, permanent impression that develops its own patina over time.

Choosing a personalised gift comes down to two decisions: the material and the finish. Here, the material is always full-grain vegetable-tanned calfskin, made in Paris 17th. The engraving finish is chosen according to the effect you want: warm gold, understated silver or sober natural.

This guide covers the available models, engraving options, and the criteria for choosing the right keyring to give based on the recipient's personality.

Key points

  • Engraving is available in gold, silver or natural on every Suki keyring model
  • Hot-stamping at 100 °C compresses the leather in depth — the mark is permanent and cannot be erased
  • Full-grain vegetable-tanned calfskin develops a patina: the engraving integrates and improves with time
  • Every piece is handmade in the workshop in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, rue Labie
  • Motifs are inlaid into the thickness of the leather, not glued to the surface — they cannot peel off
  • Delivered in a cotton pouch, plastic-free, ready to give
  • Personalisation at +€30 on all models — lead time to confirm at the time of ordering

What technique is used to engrave a leather keyring?

Hot-stamp engraving is the technique used in the Suki workshop: a tool heated to 100 °C is pressed onto the leather under pressure. The leather compresses without burning, the mark is immediate, clean and permanent. It cannot be washed off or erased, and takes on a slightly darker patina than the surrounding leather over the months.

Hot stamp or cold embossing: what's the difference?

A hot stamp at 100 °C produces a debossed mark in the leather with a slight variation in tone. Cold embossing (pressure without heat) leaves a shallower impression that can fade on supple leathers. At Suki, hot-stamp engraving is chosen for its permanence and legibility over time.

Can you engrave a long name or a phrase?

The available surface depends on the model. The keyrings in the keyring collection accommodate an initial, a short first name or a date. The Bise offers the largest format (8.5 × 7 cm); the rectangles — Holmes, Taylor, Rainbow, Wild, Rey, Ziggy — measure 6.5 × 4.5 cm, and the Venus 5.5 × 5.5 cm. If in doubt, contact the workshop before placing your order.

Which engraving colour should you choose?

Three finishes are available: gold (warm, visible on all dark leather tones), silver (understated, very legible on light and camel leathers), natural (tone-on-tone, discreet, suited to minimalist personalities). The gold finish remains the most requested for gifts.

Which models lend themselves best to personalisation?

All keyrings in the range accept engraving. The choice of model depends on the motif you want to give and the format suited to everyday use.

Holmes: the heart inlaid in the leather

The Holmes is a 6.5 × 4.5 cm rectangle marked with a heart in inlaid, topstitched leather. The motif is set into the thickness, never glued. The surface leaves room for a first name, initials or a date. Metal ring, rivet-fixed. Delivered in a cotton pouch, ready to give.

Venus: the best-selling heart-shaped keyring

The Venus is the house's iconic keyring. Its heart shape — the cut itself, in 8 colourways including red, black, burgundy and forêt — makes it the most versatile choice. Available at €35, personalisation at +€30.

Bise, Ziggy, Wild, Rey: silhouette or inlaid motif

Bise stands apart through its own shape: a cloud silhouette, cut directly into the leather. Ziggy, Wild and Rey follow a different logic: a strong motif (lightning bolt for Ziggy, two clouds for Wild, crown for Rey) created in marquetry — the leather is inlaid into the thickness, never glued to the surface. Personalised engraving is added to this existing motif without obscuring it.

Taylor and Rainbow: the multiple hearts

The Taylor (four inlaid hearts) and the Rainbow (four hearts in different colours, cut from the workshop's off-cuts) both measure 6.5 × 4.5 cm. The Rainbow is a permanent piece in the range, available year-round in three colourways: camel, black and forêt.

How to choose based on the recipient's personality

The right personalised keyring is the one that matches the style of the person who will carry it every day — not the one that looks most appealing in its packaging.

Is a leather keyring a suitable gift for any occasion?

Yes. The compact format, accessible price (€35–55, personalisation included between €65 and €85), and delivery in a cotton pouch make it a complete gift for a birthday, graduation, a farewell or simply to mark a thoughtful moment. Engraving transforms an everyday accessory into an object of memory.

Do you need to know the recipient's size?

No. A keyring requires no measurements. It is one of the rare leather gifts — along with a leather card holder — that can be given without any risk of sizing issues.

Why vegetable-tanned leather changes the experience over time

Full-grain vegetable-tanned calfskin ages differently from chrome-tanned leather: it absorbs natural oils, takes the shape of use, and develops a patina unique to each owner. An engraved keyring in vegetable-tanned leather is not the same object at six months as it was on the first day — it becomes even more personal.

How do you care for an engraved leather keyring?

A soft, dry cloth is sufficient for everyday cleaning. To nourish the leather and slow drying, a thin layer of colourless, silicone-free nourishing milk applied two to three times a year maintains suppleness. Hot-stamp engraving is not affected by this treatment — it remains intact. For more on leather care, see the leather bag care guide.

Does the engraving last?

Yes. The hot stamp at 100 °C compresses the leather fibres in depth — it is not a surface marking. The impression does not fade with washing, friction or standard care products. On the contrary, it develops a slightly darker patina than the surrounding leather, making it more legible with time.

Made in Paris: what it concretely changes

Suki keyrings are handmade in the workshop in the 17th arrondissement, rue Labie, in small batches, with no subcontracting or importing. Every piece goes through the same stages: leather selection, cutting, assembly, hand-tinted edges, interior reinforcements, ring attachment. Engraving is carried out in the same workshop, by the same hands.

This concentration of know-how in a single place — from the most traditional French leather goods craft to the personalisation service — is what guarantees consistency between the motif, the material and the engraved finish. To discover the techniques used in the workshop, the Parisian leather goods workshop guide details the house's gestures.

The complete small leather goods collection is available on the site, with in-store pick-up directly at the workshop.

Frequently asked questions

How much does personalisation cost on a Suki keyring?

Personalised engraving is offered at +€30 on most models (Venus, Bise, Ziggy, Wild, Rey, Taylor, Rainbow). The final price of a personalised keyring therefore ranges from €65 to €85, cotton pouch included.

Can you choose the colour of the engraving?

Yes. Three finishes are available: gold, silver or natural. The choice is made at the time of personalisation, on the product page. The gold finish is the most visible on dark leathers; the natural finish is the most discreet, recommended for a tone-on-tone effect.

Is the keyring delivered in gift packaging?

Every piece is delivered in a cotton pouch, plastic-free. No additional packaging is needed — the cotton pouch is designed to be given as it is.

Can you give a personalised keyring alongside another Suki accessory?

Yes. Keyrings combine easily with a leather coin purse or a card holder to make a cohesive set. The Wild pairs, for example, with the Nikiti (passport pouch) for a travel gift set, and the range also includes models such as the Belize among the small leather goods available. Delivery is free from €100.
