Frequently asked questions

ORDER & PAYMENT

Can a piece be personalised before ordering — first name, initial, date?+−

Yes. Most Suki pieces (belt bags, wallets, card holders, key rings, passport sleeves) can be personalised with gold, silver or natural stamping. The text can be a first name of fewer than 8 characters, a single initial, or a date in short format (e.g. 14.02). Personalisation is added to the order from the product page options. Additional lead time: 48 hours of crafting before shipping.

Are Suki pieces always available, or can a colour run out?+−

Suki collections are made in limited series, tied to the leathers available at the atelier. When a hide is sold out, the series stops until the next supply. Some permanent models (Ulysse, Achille, Nikiti) are restocked regularly. Seasonal colours or upcycled-leather pieces may disappear without restock. The Suki mailing list is notified of new arrivals and restocks first.

Are the displayed prices inclusive of tax, and are there extra shipping fees?+−

All prices shown on the site are in euros, all taxes included. Shipping fees are added at checkout depending on the chosen method (standard or tracked Colissimo). Free shipping applies above a certain order amount — the threshold is shown in the basket. Suki Paris is a micro-business: no VAT is applied (basic exemption, art. 293 B French Tax Code), which means the listed price is the real price with no recoverable VAT.

Can a Suki piece be offered with a message and gift packaging?+−

Yes. Each order can include a handwritten note from the atelier, added on request when ordering. The Suki packaging (plastic-free cotton pouch) is gift-ready as it is. For key rings and small leather goods, everything arrives ready to give. Pieces personalised with gold or silver stamping are especially well-suited as gifts — they arrive engraved, finished, with no further preparation.

SHIPPING

What is the delivery time for a standard order without personalisation?+−

Orders without personalisation are dispatched within 2 to 3 working days from the Parisian atelier. Delivery within mainland France then takes another 2 to 3 working days depending on the chosen method. For an order with personalisation (hot-stamped marking), add 48 hours of crafting before dispatch. The atelier sends a confirmation email with the tracking number as soon as the parcel ships.

Does Suki Paris deliver internationally?+−

Yes, we deliver throughout Europe and to several countries outside the European Union. Delivery times and shipping costs depend on the destination — they are shown in the basket before checkout. For deliveries outside the EU, customs duties may apply according to the destination's regulations: they are at the recipient's expense. For any specific question about international delivery, contact hello@suki-paris.com.

What happens if my order arrives damaged or is lost in transit?+−

Every Suki order is shipped with tracking. If the parcel arrives damaged, write to hello@suki-paris.com within 48 hours with a photo of the parcel and the piece. If loss is confirmed by the carrier, Suki Paris reships or refunds at the customer's choice. Resolution times depend on the carrier's procedure, but we manage the follow-up end to end.

LEATHER CARE

How do I care for a Suki vegetable-tanned leather bag or accessory?+−

Suki vegetable-tanned leather doesn't need intensive care. Twice a year, apply a colourless neutral wax with your finger on the dry surface and edges, then buff with a soft cloth. On light colours (camel), prefer a colourless wax to avoid changing the tone. Avoid greasy products such as linseed or argan oil, which darken the leather irreversibly. In case of a splash, blot with absorbent cloth without rubbing and let air dry.

Can Suki leather get caught in the rain, or is it sensitive to humidity?+−

Full-grain vegetable-tanned leather is wax-treated at the atelier before shipping for water resistance — it withstands light splashes. However, it is not waterproof: heavy rain or immersion soaks the leather and may leave visible drying marks. In heavy rain, dab gently and let it dry flat, away from a heat source (don't use a hairdryer). Once dry, apply a neutral wax to restore the surface.

Does Suki leather take on a patina over time, and is it normal?+−

Yes, and it is intentional. Vegetable-tanned leather is alive: with use, the friction points (handles, closures, corners) darken slightly and the surface develops a sheen unique to its owner. Two Ulysse pieces worn for two years look similar but are not identical — each one wears the patina of its owner. That's one of the reasons we choose vegetable tanning over a surface treatment that would freeze the colour but flake off over time.

Can a Suki piece be repaired if a zip or stitching gives way after several years?+−

Yes. The Suki atelier accepts repair requests on pieces from the range: zip replacement, restitching, ring or rivet replacement. Contact hello@suki-paris.com with a photo of the piece and a description of the desired repair. A quote is provided within 5 working days. Repairs are billed at the actual cost of the work — the goal is for the piece to last, not be replaced.

BESPOKE & PERSONALISATION

What is the difference between gold, silver and natural stamping?+−

Hot-iron stamping on leather creates a sunken imprint on the surface. With gold, a sheet of gold leaf is placed between iron and leather — the mark appears in raised gold. With silver, the same process with a silver sheet. With natural (no metallic leaf), the mark is simply burned into the leather: it appears darker than the background and takes on a brown-black tone over time. The natural option suits dark leathers (black, burgundy) where gold or silver doesn't show through enough.

Can a piece be ordered in a leather colour not shown in the shop?+−

Bespoke orders in colours outside the catalogue are not available online — they are discussed directly with the atelier via hello@suki-paris.com. Some leathers are available in small quantities at the atelier without being shown in the shop. Feasibility depends on stock and the chosen model. A quote and lead time are provided before commitment. This type of order requires a minimum of 3 weeks.

Is personalisation final — can it be erased or changed?+−

Hot-iron engraving is permanent: it presses deeply into the leather, making it impossible to erase without damaging the surface. It is not possible to modify or remove a marking once made. That's why we double-check before launching the engraving — the atelier sends a confirmation of the input before any work. In case of error on our side, the piece is remade at no charge.

Can an existing model be ordered in a different size — larger or smaller?+−

Size modifications are not available as standard. Each Suki model has a fixed pattern that defines its proportions — changing the dimensions changes the balance of the piece. For very specific requests (a wider belt bag, a wallet with two compartments), write to hello@suki-paris.com: the atelier evaluates feasibility case by case. This type of bespoke is limited and depends on the current order book.
