The leather bucket bag is a round-based, soft-bodied handbag that opens wide from the top — a shape born in the 1930s and never out of style since. At Suki, it takes the form of the Altaï, woven on rue Labie.

— Material —
The leather is full-grain cowhide — the noblest layer of the hide — vegetable tanned in European tanneries committed to responsible practices. It darkens and polishes with use: that is the patina, and everyday scratches blend into it. The water-resistant nylon lining is sewn with the same care (full-grain vs corrected-grain leather).
Care is simple: a soft dry cloth, a colourless silicone-free leather milk once or twice a year, and the cotton pouch for storage (our leather care guide).

Black, camel or forest: the same full-grain, vegetable-tanned cowhide, which develops a patina unique to each bag. The surface deepens with use — no two Altaï age the same way.

— Atelier —
The Altaï's weave is structural, not decorative: the leather strips hold without knots or glue, and the weave itself gives the bag its shape. Each piece is woven and sewn on rue Labie, in small batches, with no outsourcing — camel that deepens beautifully, deep black with hand-dyed edges, or forest green.
For a meaningful gift, custom engraving — gold, silver or blind — is done in the very atelier where the bag was born, initials or a date. The piece can also be collected there, on rue Labie.
